IT'S NAME IS RIO

The ‘sun’ or ‘bucket’ hat is a terrace staple made so by such brands as Fila, Burberry and Ellesse during the 80s.

Now into our fourth version, the ‘Rio’ is a very lightweight cotton weave with our own personal reversible checks.  Available in sand and navy, featuring ‘palla’ woven badge to front and ‘Eighties’ pinch tab to the rear.  Please note for those not off to Brazil, this should do a reasonably good job in the rain too. THE FABULOUS NORTH

We've never shied away from the pride of where we are from, and no one should, as it's what you are, part of your make up. We have respect for all the corners of these fine isles, and their different quirks, looks and accents.

The Fabulous North design is based on one of our tongue in cheek ads, playing up to the stereo type of the northern man. Re interpreted by the ever impressive artist Paul Cruse, with the apt font of Las Vegas inspiration.

RIP RODGER HILL - AKA CYRUS

Actor Roger Hill, who had a key role in the cult classic film "The Warriors", died on Thursday February 20 at the age of 65. Hill played the charismatic gang leader Cyrus in director Walter Hill's film. Hill was given the famous "can you dig it" speech, when the person the role was originally intended for didn't turn up for filming, and it was offered to him......  the rest is history as they say.

Now we are not ones for cashing in on the sad demise of actors/characters we love, hence our recent 'Cyrus' design was pure coincidence and brought out before this sad news (as were our early Osti designs). However we are very proud of this poignant reminder of a character that played such a memorable part in the imagery of our youth.

One site brought to our attention via our forum, is this interesting feature on the original film locations, now and then.

SCHOOL OF SKULLDUGERY

Meet Alex, cool cat but a bit of a sick puppy. He's been going the match since he was a wee urchin and opened up his first mooey at the sweet and tender age of 16. A Jack the lad always good for a laugh and a line. Does a bit of this and that, he's a little bit wooo, a little bit waaay, a little bit woosh.

Now he's so well schooled in the art of skullduggery, he even has his own clothing line getting snapped up by all the hip kids to wear for the game down the boozer. He's so now that there is no one he's not done a collabo with, even getting CP to do him a double watchviewer as he has a kettle on each wrist. Immortalized here in all his glory by the talented Paul Cruse.

Out soon..... JM

GRIM UP NORTH

This vintage slice of graffiti originally tagged on the London Euston train line has become something of an obsession for us, you could even say an integral part of our brand. Because we're Northern you see and like most of our breed proud of it. Yes we love the North vs South banter and even throw in the odd design just for our friends in the deep South. But when it comes down to it, we have this belief that the grim harsh reality of a less pampered dull Northern existence, makes us more resilient with a stronger will to succeed though adversity.

We also like clothes and nice ones at that! So we got our man Paul Cruse to take inspiration from two of our favourite things (we believe we were the first of many to take an interest in putting the Mille Miglia on designs). The result is a new twist on two of our old designs, re drawn from scratch with his take on the anniversary CP advert.

We like it and hope you do to, it's coming soon... JM

WORLD CUP FEVER

Yes it's started already and we're making no apologies! The 'Numismatics' (or coin collector) design is inspired by the oversized coins given out with a full tank of two star (or something like that) by fuel giants 'Esso' for the 1970 & 1990 world cups.

OK so it's not strictly legal tender but much cooler than a Smurf and great for throwing at those cheating foreigners should they make your piss boil.

So celebrating the up and coming WC 2014 in Brazil, we have embossed some of our lovely tee's with a terrace twist immortalizing three great tournaments, with some favoured lad attire of the time. Not as heavy as the originals but feel free to throw yours at Balotelli (or indeed the telly) should needs must this Summer. JM

THE SCRAP BOOK YEARS

1980s was a glorious period in the history of Everton Football Club. The team, managed by Howard Kendall, beat all before them, twice winning the First Division title, beating Bayern Munich and Rapid Vienna on the way to lifting the European Cup Winners Cup and defeating Watford as they lifted the FA Cup at Wembley. Surprisingly for such a successful period in the clubs history, there are very few books that cover this period in any detail. One person who has looked to change all that is Paul Gladwell, who recently published his first book, The Scrapbook Years - A Teenage Evertonian in the ‘80's.

At first glance the book provides a quite brilliant pictorial look back at this glorious time, with the odd reference to the history of the club and more recent Toffee adventures under David Moyes. It immediately brought back some fabulous memories and any Evertonian who was fortunate to visit Goodison Park during this time will feel nostalgic as they flick through the pages. From Panini stickers, ticket stubs, through to programme covers and newspaper cuttings, this is everything you would expect from a Scarpbook. There are also some quite brilliant photos, my particular favourite shows desperate fans risking their lives as they try to scale the Wembley walls to watch the all Merseyside cup final in 1986. JM

REAL FOOTBALL

I think it's a given that we are habitual supporters of football, but not just the professional kind. A small label we are, but our pockets are deep when it comes to putting a bit back. Not much puts as bigger smile on our faces ( and theirs) as seeing our teams with Eighties artwork emblazoned across the club shirts. So it's with great pride that we showcase the new 2014 strips for both Sutton Casuals FC and Vauxhall Motors under 10's (the current Wirral mini cup holders). JM

ZAPPA - THE MOTHER OF ALL TEE'S

Frank Vincent Zappa is regarded by many as one of the most original guitarists and composers of his time. His outrageous and humorous lyrics, earned him a cult status with chongers and trippers alike (although he claimed not to be a user of any mind bending substances himself).

2013 saw the 20th anniversary of the cool Mexicana trainer wearing dancing fools passing, which we wish to mark with this tribute to a free thinker cut from a different cloth, interpreted by our man Paul Cruse . JM

SANKOFA

Over the years you may well have noticed us backing local talent
whether it be our designers, printers, local boxing club or kids football teams.

Another of our passions has been local music and we now champion that through
our 'Not For Profit' 80s inspired 'Vinyl Only' Record Label.
We've invested some of our own funds to set up the label and as we near the end of
our first calendar year, the report is that it has been a great success, with the label
bringing many of the bands to the attention of radio dj's and gig promoters.

One such band, Sankofa, have caught our attention, to the fact that we are now managing them and hoping to push them further up the ladder to success.
They do not conform to 3 minute pop songs and prefer not to be mainstream and commercial.
They have a 60s Psych element to their sound but prefer 'Stoner Rock' which was a recent description heaped on them.
This we like as it has the Casual ethos of preferring to do your ones own thing and not follow fashion.
Their latest release is a 4 Track EP with the lead track Guttermouth already gaining local airplay.

If your into new music check out some of the last 12 months worth of releases on our soundcloud site;

you can buy the vinyls and some quality posters from www.eightiesvinylrecords.co.uk

The Sankofa EP is available on vinyl but they also have the download available from ITunes and other good record stores; https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/sankofa-ep/id716530451

SUD PARKA

The Sud parka had been a year in the making, and not wanting to sound too smug, we are pretty damn pleased with the result!

This navy ripstop fabric is light yet durable and shower proof. The front has two large bellows stow pockets, with easy access hand warmer pockets positioned just above.

The cuffs have two width settings via 'Eighties' embossed press studs, while the waist line can be drawn in using the concealed adjusters.

Our personal favourite feature is the 'stash' or 'anti roll' pockets (depending on the occasion), which are cleverly tucked away under each armpit.

The peak hood can be zipped high around the face, or worn open collar revealing the contrast net lining in sky.

The details we hope you have come to expect from us include, leather Palla badge, Eighties pinch tab and heavyweight two way zip with Eighies stamped pull cords. JM

Available from the 1st of December @ 7pm online £109.95

CAN YOU DIG IT?

Can you count suckers? I say the

future is ours... if you can count!

Now look what we have here

before us. We got the Saracens

sitting next to the Jones Street

Boys. We've got the Moonrunners

right by the Van Cortlandt

Rangers.

Nobody is wasting nobody. That...

is a miracle. And miracles is the

way things ought to be.

You're standing right now with nine

delegates from 100 gangs. And

there's over a hundred more.

That's 20,000 hardcore members.

Forty-thousand, counting affiliates,

and twenty-thousand more, not

organized, but ready to fight:

60,000 soldiers! Now there ain't

but 20,000 police in the whole

town.

Can you dig it?

Can you dig it?

Can you dig it!

One of the best movie scenes of all

time plain and simple.

I doubt

there are many reading this

that haven't at some point thrown

their arms open wide (usually

drunk), eyes bulging in a Cyrus

stylie.........

shouting those immortal words.

You to can be the warlord of your

pub, terrace or living room in this

cracking interpretation from our

Man Paul Cruse.

Available from December. JM

IL MASTER - RE MASTERED

In 2008 we released our first tribute to one of our clothing designer Gods, the late great Massimo Osti. This was well before many actually realized who he was and the legacy he left us.

Osti's obsession with military uniforms and their function, was successfully translated to everyday wear becoming a cornerstone of any self respecting match going chaps wardrobe.... both then and now.

The second coming of Il Master was an acknowledgment of this great Man's passing and his status with those in the know.

His third incarnation is purely indulgence as he is undoubtedly one of our many obsessions..... both then and now.

More wonderful artistry by our Man Paul Cruse released in stores and online next Spring. JM

So without going into too much detail about the obvious, this design is for those who like us are in un inspiring jobs and spend our week looking forward to the *Saturday catwalk and all it holds.

( * premiership fans may want to insert Sunday or Monday and don't even get us started on kick off times!)

TREVISO

Treviso rugby team were founded in Italy in 1932. Much later their main sponsor became local knitwear manufacturer Benetton and they became known as 'Benetton Treviso rugby'.

By the early 80s Benetton had become a multi national clothing brand with stores worldwide. When the company took the decision to sell replica BTR shirts in it's stores, they certainly never went unnoticed on these shores, becoming one of the most sort after items of the original casuals era.

As our mission statement says we are not stuck in the 80s but are fond of an opportunity to give a nod and a wink to the brands and key pieces where it all began.

Gentlemen & ladies, we give you the Eighties Treviso rugby. JM

COBB

What chap doesn't love The Warriors movie based on Sol Yurick's 1965 novel of the same name?

Released in 1979 the tale follows a gang from Coney Island (NY) attempting to fight their way back from Manhattan to home, with dozens of rival gangs trying to make sure that they never get there. Now if the Warriors were the hero's of the film, then everybody's favorite anti hero's had to be the Baseball Furies.

The 'Furies' were a gang who's turf was Riverside park in Manhattan. Their uniforms were the unmistakable New York Yankee's baseball strip with brightly painted faces not dissimilar to that of  fellow NY rockers 'Kiss'.

The leader and 'warlord' of this scary looking bunch was 'Cobb' believed to take his nickname from Yankees baseball legend Ty Cobb. Cobb (by far the most iconic character) was first immortalized in tee form by ourselves in 2009. Due to constant requests he is now back in a very limited run.

NOT FOR SHEEP

One of our favourite images from the late 80s is the witty record sleeve from Liverpool indi band The Farm for their single Stepping Stone (a dance remake of Paul Revere & the Raiders and The Monkees single "(I'm Not Your) Steppin Stone"). This tongue in cheek photo perfectly captures the mood of the time as football lads up and down the country went all 'fluffy' in a house and drug educed rave -a- thon.

As per we have re done this from scratch with our own twist re interpreted by the rather excellent Scouse artist Paul Cruse. Released late November in and array of colours online and through our usual stockist. JM
