NEW PROPER MAG

We believe there are only two fanzine style publications worth purchasing, the first we have already mentioned and here we have the second. Proper Mag in now up to its 8th edition and the Stockport based mag gets better with age. Born out of the ethos of 'casual' the content includes all the elements of a quality read, football, clothes, music and film with particular attention being paid to the people behind these cultural scenes. ie; Ian Paley and Kenneth MacKenzie.
In this issue is a huge interview with pioneering DJ Greg Wilson, interviews with the people behind 6876, Heritage Research, Universal Works and tuktuk, plus various other stuff relating to travel, vintage clothing and music. If you missed any of the previous publications they are all available with the current issue here. http://www.propermag.com/sections.php?section_id=41
Cost is £4.50 but for that you will be one step ahead of the monthly mags that cost a similar price but are half full of adverts.

POP84 JEANS

Besides trainers and sportswear, the early 80s became designer led with its jeans. Ball, C17, Armani and Lois were all foundations of the casual wardrobe. Pop84 were another quality jean that added to a sense of personal style. We recently came across this advert from the 80s that clearly shows a logo which became embedded into our psyche.

NEW BOSS MAG OUT NOW

Our friends at Boss mag inform us that the latest edition [No 10] is due for imminent release. Those of you who have never heard of the mag, it was created by three young liverpool lads in 2007 because no-one was writing what they wanted to read, as they put it. Which is basically, going the match, the pub, buying the gear and other such idiosyncrasies associated with such cultural  activities. The Times described it as "It's less a fanzine than the house magazine of a gritty, exciting real-life Scouse culture - with an admittedly red slant" Heres a run down of whats included in this issue and its available from http://www.bossmag.co.uk/buy/ for the princely sum of £1; Editorial • S'appenin lad • Real Madrid Away • 08/09 Aways Roundup • West Brom Away • St Gallen Away • SFK Lyn Away • Liverpool vs Italy (Fiorentina Away) • These are crazy days, but they make me shine • Girls at the match • Book reviews • BIFTAS 08/09 Results • The Gillett and Hicks Files • Going the gym is shite • Shopping • Under the Mud • Going to The Brook • How to jib off those embarrassng moments • Ten town things • The Breck Road/Dely mob war of 1976 • Ten things you do when you're in the boozer on your own • The Mozafather Swillogy • Romance in paradise: A BOSS magazine love story • The Worrier • Toilet Etiquette

WORLD CUP T-SHIRTS

March will see the release of our World Cup range of T-Shirts. Here we have a selection but we also have an Italian and Argentinian image to add. Tardelli and Maradona respectively. We have chosen iconic players from each country so there is no explanation needed. The back will have the respective country in the same typeface used by legendary 80s brand Marc O'Polo. A new 80s Casuals logo also replaces the dictionary saying on the back of the T-Shirts henceforth. The 80s Casuals website http://www.80scasuals.co.uk/ and the usual stores will be stocking the range. Check back for confirmation of release dates in the near future. We will also be doing a separate England T-Shirt which we are working on at present.

CASUAL RESTAURANT

Top Liverpool photographer Mark McNulty recently sent us this pic from a visit to Shanghai. It appears the Casual word is spreading. Mark was mainly a music photographer and many of his iconic images are available in his published book 'Pop Cultured' from the Bunnymen through to The La's and to the Zutons.
He now also concentrates his camera on more everyday pieces of culture.
